Kansas City, Mo. – The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance recently presented Arizona State University with the prestigious Campus Program Excellence Award. The awards presentation took place at the annual Alliance Management Institute—an educational symposium geared toward college students beginning a career in the nonprofit sector. The 45th annual Institute was January 3-5, 2018, at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown.

The Campus Program Excellence Award is presented each year to an affiliated college or university that has demonstrated a commitment to running an exceptional Alliance program on its campus. “Arizona State University is exemplary in its dedication to training the next generation of social-impact leaders,” says Susan T. Schmidt, CNP, president of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. “ASU was selected based on the quality of its program, its close connection to the nonprofit community, and the extraordinary experience it provides students.”

Specifically, Arizona State was selected based on the following accomplishments:

  • Doubled the number of Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credentials awarded from 11 to 22;
  • Raised $35,000 for their students to attend the annual Alliance Management Institute;
  • Won an Ironman Volunteer award and an Ironman Foundation grant.

The 2018 honorees were chosen by an awards selection committee comprised of key Alliance stakeholders, including affiliated faculty members, alumni, nonprofit partners, board members and sponsors. The selection of the award recipients was based on specific criteria for each respective award.

About the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance: Since 1948, the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance has worked to strengthen the social sector with a talented, prepared workforce. Its Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential is the only national nonprofit management certification in the U.S. The Alliance system, which includes nearly 40 colleges and universities, 15 national nonprofit partners and more than 10,000 CNPs, is the largest network in the country working to build a talent pipeline for the social sector.
