Kansas City, Mo. – On June 2, 2018, the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance will host its 70th Anniversary Gala: A Better World at the Kansas City Marriott’s Historic Muehlebach Ballroom. Chaired by Terry and Peggy Dunn, the gala is a tribute to the legacy of the Alliance founders, including former KC Mayor H. Roe Bartle, and the profound impact the Alliance’s 10,000 Certified Nonprofit Professionals have had on communities across the world.
“We are truly honored to serve as the 70th Anniversary Celebration Co-Chairs for the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance,” says Terry and Peggy Dunn. “Our history with this organization dates back to the relationship that my grandfather, John Ernest Dunn, Sr., had with Mayor H. Roe Bartle, the founder of the Alliance. We salute not only the tremendous success the organization has enjoyed during the past 70 years, but also their alumni throughout the world who are providing strong leadership in both the nonprofit and the for-profit arena.”
Seventy years ago, H. Roe Bartle convened a small circle of friends to discuss what he saw as a serious issue facing society. Having worked and volunteered for years with Boy Scouts and the YMCA of the USA, Bartle knew better than most that the solution to our community’s most pressing issues is the network of nonprofit organizations collectively working to make the world a better place. Bartle’s vision was to create a talent pipeline for the nonprofit sector, developing leaders who would one day become change agents. From there, the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance was born. Many years later, the Alliance continues to prepare emerging leaders to tackle the most complex of societal ills.
The Alliance is proud to host this event with the generous support from the following sponsors: Terry and Peggy Dunn, FOX4 News, Boy Scouts of America, JE Dunn Construction, Financial Holding Corp, DST Systems and Sunderland Foundation. Guests at the gala will enjoy a cocktail hour followed by a gourmet dinner and live auction. Business attire is requested.
